OF Lab / Project workshop

Deadline for project proposals 19 Feb 2010.
OF Lab / Project workshop

We are please to announce that to celebrate the conclusion of the Decode show at the V&A museum, we will be hosting an OF Lab from February 26th-28th. It's a completely free event, where we will basically take over the Sackler Centre for Arts Education at V&A, create a space for hacking and experimenting collectively. We've assembled quite a bit of kit (projectors, computers, cameras) and are pretty psyched about the venue. At all times, our space will be open for the members of the V&A public, who will be invited to observe and even participate in the process.

We will structure the lab as a project based lab -- we're both looking for project proposals and for general collaborators who would like to come and hack on a given project. For the proposals, these can be works in progress or new works, but they should be somewhat achievable in the short time-span, and in addition, they must engage members of the V&A audience. Besides that - we are completely open about the medium and the message. We are seeking to select a half-dozen or more depending on space, equipment and resources.

For collaborators, this is anyone who'd like to come to the lab to help on any of the projects, and overall. this is great if you are curious, and you'd like to explore different types of work. It should be a great atmosphere for working with strangers.

Participating in lab projects is open to anyone, regardless of experience. In addition to working on projects, we'll have demos, work on addons to OF, and look at advanced topics people are thinking about, like physics libraries or GLSL code. It should be a really good time.

We're doing this lab on a shoestring budget, so we're unable to pay for flights / housing, but we are working on arranging some couches for people to crash on (we've got some lined up), and we can help with writing letters of support for people who might be able to convince their employer/school/government to support some of the costs.

Applying:

To submit a project proposal, send a 1 page (only) pdf describing the work you'd like to make and especially how it will draw on the public at V&A. the Pdf can include imagery, or any relevant links to video materials. Send this to lab@openframeworks.cc Please send this by the 19th.

To come as a collaborator, send an email to lab@openframeworks.cc with a short bio and any important info about your background and what topics you are interested in. We will try to organize great group as best we can before hand.

+ + + + +

If you have questions, please feel free to email lab@openframeworks.cc, zach@openframeworks.cc or joel@yesyesno.com
